About Me
In the past 16 years I have had the opportunity to continuously hone my facilitation skills. My work in the international development cooperation sphere has allowed me to engage with many teams across Southern and Eastern Africa. I have mostly designed and facilitated strategy and brainstorming sessions, team development as well as multi-stakeholder processes. I have designed and facilitated large group conferences and workshops both in person as well as participatory hybrid events. In 2015 I have started offering the Art of Facilitation personal development program and designed various facilitation trainings both as public as well as inter-organizational courses. In all of these processes it is important to me to create spaces which allow for meaningful connections and conversations.
I believe it is time that we focus strongly on approaches that honour and work with deeply rooted knowledge and wisdom from our communities. That we reconnect with and are guided by nature and that we start listening again to the wisdom and ways that have guided many of us for centuries.
So far, I have founded twice and don’t want to miss any of these valuable lessons. I have a feeling, I will do it again. There are simply too many fascinating ideas waiting to be explored and tested.
In 2024 I finally found a way to combine two of my big passions, facilitation and working with young people as Youth Hub and Skills Development manager at kids haven. kids haven is a very special place for me, as I started my South African journey here in 2005. Full circle has now a new meaning for me.
Being Real
Being real is the one promise I am willing to make. Every single time.
I am interested in “how you are really doing”; I am curious about the actual underlying issues and topics; I am inviting all of you into my workshops not only your thoughts but also your feelings, unapologetically.
I am trying to be aware of the context we are in and in which our conversations happen.
And I will openly admit that I don’t have the answers, that I am wrong fairly often and will genuinely apologize for mistakes. I am wonderfully imperfect and will bring all of it in.
I am connected to a beautiful network of skilled, diverse, mostly female facilitators, all bringing their unique flavours and facilitation signatures into the mix. I love working in facilitation tandems and will always consider who is the best possible facilitator for your needs.
